Today, conclude your tour of Rio with a cable car ride up Sugarloaf Mountain for panoramic views, and then enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Or, join our optional Favela tour for a better understanding of Rio de Janeiro. Life in Rio is one of contrasts, and there are upper-class areas, such as Ipanema and Copacabana, right next to poor neighborhoods known as favelas. About 20 percent of Rio’s residents live in favelas. This is not just a chance to visit favelas—it is also a unique opportunity to learn valuable information that will deepen your understanding of the complexity of Brazilian society. During the tour, you will go to Vila Canoas and Rocinha, the largest favelas in Brazil. There you will visit a school, handcrafts center,

and other parts of the community.
